Words have the power to encourage.
May the words you read in these blog posts lift your spirits and draw you into a deeper personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Steal Back Your Joy
Sometimes we don’t get the reaction we hope for from the people we most want to be proud of us. Most of the time it’s not intentional. They are just wrapped up in their own world, thoughts and perspectives and don’t realize you are longing for their approval or attention. Don’t let them steal your joy.
What happened to our unity? Let us never forget.
What happened to the unity we felt after September 11th? It felt like we were all brothers and sisters who cared about each other, no matter our differences. That sense of unity I was able to experience for a few weeks is something that’s been on my mind a lot in the last two years as we’ve become more and more disconnected as a country and division seems to be becoming an acceptable norm.
Believing In The Power Of YET
Don't give up. God is not done with you yet. He just might be in the process of answering your prayer.
Trust God In All Things
When I truly accepted that bad things were going to happen in my life and that it didn’t mean that I had been forsaken; it didn’t mean that all hope was lost; and it didn’t mean that there weren’t good things that would also continue to happen in my future….it was such a relief!
When Did It Become Not Okay To Laugh?
Some of us, #preachingtomyselftoo, take ourselves and the things that happen to us way too seriously. Yes, there are serious things that happen. Very serious things. Yes, as individuals we have value and worth and shouldn’t let anyone disrespect us or not take us seriously. But I meet so many women that seem to have forgotten that life is meant to be fun too.
God Is Better Than Good
I believe that God is good all the time and all the time, God is good. But can we be real for a minute? Everything in life doesn’t always feel good. There are times when the situations we are facing seem unbearable and just saying “God is good all the time” doesn’t make you feel any better.
Choosing Joy Doesn’t Mean Ignoring Your Pain
It feels like our world is imploding. Real talk…2020 has been emotionally exhausting and mentally challenging for me. I’m guessing you can relate. The events of the last month have added to my pain and as a black woman, I have to be honest, it’s added to my anger.
My Broken Hallelujah
I was a dancer from a very young age, starting with ballet, but I didn’t know what it really meant to dance like David before the Lord (2 Samuel 6:14) until I became a part of the Angels of Praise. Let’s face it, other than ballet, I don’t think my booty shaking dance moves of my teens and early 20s would have been seen as praise. Don’t get me wrong, I love to dance to secular music too, I’m not trying to pretend that I don’t have any Tupac or Janet in my playlist (I know….I’m dating myself), but there is an inexplicable feeling I get when I’m dancing solely for His Glory.
Jesus Is The Light Of The World
Light is bold. It stands out in darkness. Even if it’s dim, it can be seen. Even a faint light in the far distance of a pitch black night will catch someone’s attention. When we feel lost God’s Word lights our path.
You Were Created For Such A Time As This
This is a moment in time where the depth of our belief in this scripture is being tested. I truly believe that even though it may seem like our way of life has come to a screeching halt, God is still in control. He has not forsaken us. We are not doomed.
A Fresh Start With God
You know Him. You love Him, but in every relationship it’s important from time-to-time to go back to the beginning - to remember why you love them, what they mean to you, what they’ve done for you, the things you’ve been through together and to daydream about what your future holds. Sometimes you need a fresh start, even with God.
Your Life Matters
Warning: This post contains my personal story and I talk very openly about suicide.
I have tried to take my own life. Don’t worry, this isn’t a cry for help. I’ve been very transparent about my ongoing battle with depression. My prayer is that my story will encourage you to trust and believe that your life matters.
